Pick the right vendor, for the right reasons.

Independent help choosing security tools and vendors — without the bias of selling you the product.

One-TimeIndependentAlways AdviseNever Implement

Buying security tools should not feel like buying a used car

Most resellers and vendors have a product to sell, and they will tell you theirs is the best, because their commission depends on it. After three demos and two free trials, you can end up more confused than when you started.

The trouble is not that good tools are hard to find. It is that no one in the room is working for you. Ridgepoint is. We do not sell products, earn commissions, or install the tool. We help you make an informed choice, then step aside.

How an independent selection works

We work for you, not for a vendor. We start with your environment and requirements, study the market against them, build a short list, and help you decide. Because we have no product to sell and no referral fees to collect, the recommendation reflects your needs, not ours.

  • Needs assessment — your environment, budget, and technical requirements
  • Market research and a focused short list, usually three to five options
  • A feature comparison built around your requirements, not a generic checklist
  • Demo coordination and a prepared question set so you compare fairly
  • A written recommendation with the reasoning behind it
  • Optional rollout oversight to confirm the chosen vendor delivers what was promised
  • AI tooling reviewed in the same pass — when we look at your security stack, AI tools get the same scrutiny

Where independent selection helps most

Clients most often want help choosing endpoint detection and response platforms, email security and anti-phishing tools, log management and monitoring platforms, and backup and recovery solutions. We also weigh in on less obvious calls, like deciding between competing managed services partners or comparing security awareness platforms.

For vCISO retainer clients, vendor selection is already included as part of ongoing security leadership, at no extra cost. AI tool evaluation is folded into the same review when we are already assessing your security stack.

If you want the buyer's perspective before you start, our guide on how to choose a cybersecurity vendor walks through the questions to ask and the red flags to watch for.

Frequently asked questions

No. Ridgepoint does not sell products, earn commissions, or accept referral fees from any vendor. Our income comes from advisory work, not from what you buy. That is what keeps a recommendation honest.

We can oversee the rollout to make sure the vendor delivers what was promised, but we do not implement it ourselves. That separation is on purpose. It keeps us in the advisory seat and removes the conflict that comes with being both the recommender and the installer.

That is fine. We can start from your shortlist instead of building one from scratch. We will pressure-test your options against your real requirements, fill in any gaps, and help you make the final call with confidence.

Usually two to four weeks from kickoff to a written recommendation, depending on how complex the decision is and how quickly vendors can schedule demos. A focused choice, like picking an email security platform, can move faster.
